FPCT operates as a community theatre in the area of the state where professional theatre is limited to touring shows. Annual audiences number in excess of 12,000. Productions feature study guides developed specifically for teachers and students attending 6 reduced-price school matinee performances, reaching 2400 local students annually. Historically, these matinees act as a first-time theater experience for many in the Tennessee Valley, providing an entry into lifelong theater attendance and support of the arts. Performances are supported by approximately 350 volunteers annually.
FPCT provides a distinctive opportunity for performance and technical theatre experience and a cross-generational family volunteer experience. No costs are associated with performing in FPCT shows and auditions are open to the public. All productions provide hands-on training for the next generation of theater artists by providing experience in all aspects of production. Theater experience and education yields children who are self-confident, creative thinkers, team players and invested in the communities around them.
